Dias Wants New Challenge Away From City
According to CaughtOffside, Dias has instructed his representative to explore transfer opportunities after Guardiola’s exit from Manchester City. The 29-year-old centre-back is believed to be unsettled by the technical changes taking place at the club during this transitional period.
Dias joined City in 2020 and has since made 255 appearances in all competitions. Despite being under contract until 2029, reports suggest Manchester City could consider offers in the region of €60 million.
That valuation has reportedly attracted strong interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
European Giants Monitoring Situation
The report states that Dias remains open to elite opportunities as he evaluates the next stage of his career ahead of the summer market reopening.
Real Madrid are reportedly viewing the Portuguese defender as a major leadership addition for their defensive line. The Spanish club are said to be planning for the future as veteran defenders David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger approach the later stages of their careers.
The same report also credits Madrid with an interest in Dias’ Manchester City teammate Josko Gvardiol.
Manchester City Reluctant To Lose Key Players
Manchester City are reportedly determined to avoid losing important members of their squad during a sensitive managerial transition. After finishing as Premier League runners-up behind Arsenal during the 2025-26 campaign, the club are expected to prioritise stability ahead of next season.
Losing Guardiola has already marked a significant change for the club, and City are believed to be desperate to retain their top defensive players amid growing interest from continental rivals.
Portugal Duty Awaits Dias
Meanwhile, Dias is set to turn his attention to international football after being named in Portugal’s 26-man World Cup squad.
Portugal will face DR Congo, Uzbekistan and Colombia in Group K as the defender prepares for international duty while speculation over his club future continues.
