Marcus Rashford Plans Permanent Barcelona Move After Explosive Start Under Hansi Flick

‎Marcus Rashford is reportedly planning a permanent transfer to Barcelona next summer following an impressive start to his spell with the La Liga champions. The English forward, currently on loan from Manchester United, joined the Catalan giants after being placed in Ruben Amorim’s “bomb squad” earlier this year. Barcelona hold an option to make the move permanent for £26 million ($34 million).

‎Rashford has made a remarkable impact since arriving at Camp Nou, rediscovering his form under the guidance of Hansi Flick. The 27-year-old has appeared in 10 matches across all competitions, contributing three goals and eight assists. Two of his goals came against Newcastle United in the Champions League, helping Barcelona secure a crucial victory over the Magpies.
‎Flick praised Rashford’s performances after the match, describing the England international as a “fantastic player” with “unbelievable skills and finishing.” The manager also revealed that Rashford had been identified as a key target before the season began, noting his importance to Barcelona’s tactical setup and attacking depth.
‎Rashford’s form has caught the attention of top European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, who are reportedly monitoring his situation. However, according to The Mirror, Rashford is eager to remain at Barcelona permanently and fulfil a long-held dream of representing the reigning Spanish champions on a full-time basis.
‎His resurgence has also earned him a recall to the England national team under Thomas Tuchel. Rashford has featured in back-to-back international windows, scoring in England’s 5-0 win over Serbia and impressing again in a 3-0 victory against Wales. As England prepare for their upcoming World Cup qualifier against Latvia in Riga, Rashford is hoping to help his country secure a place in next year’s tournament.
‎Flick is reportedly preparing a new tactical role for Rashford once he returns from international duty. Mundo Deportivo reports that the German coach is planning to deploy him as Barcelona’s central striker, with Raphinha and Lamine Yamal flanking him on the wings and Fermín Lopez playing in support. The adjustment could come as part of Flick’s response to recent defeats to Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla.
‎The success of this system will depend on the fitness of key players recovering from injuries. Barcelona are expected to test the new setup against Girona on October 18, followed by a Champions League fixture against Olympiacos on October 21. The most anticipated challenge could come in El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu on October 26, marking a significant test for Rashford’s evolving role in Flick’s plans.
