Crystal Palace Set £60m-£70m Valuation for Adam Wharton Amid Liverpool and Man Utd Interest
Crystal Palace are expected to place a significant valuation on Adam Wharton as speculation surrounding the midfielder’s future continues to grow ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old England international has attracted links with both Manchester United and Liverpool, while former Eagles striker Clinton Morrison believes a major transfer could soon materialise. Speaking exclusively to GOAL through Freebets.com, Morrison suggested Palace could ultimately consider offers in the region of £60 million to £70 million.

Wharton joined Palace from Blackburn Rovers in February 2024 for £18 million ($24m), and his development since arriving at Selhurst Park has been rapid. The midfielder has established himself as a proven Premier League player and already has four senior England caps.
Despite Palace’s recent success, questions remain over whether Wharton will stay in south London for much longer. The Eagles secured the 2025 FA Cup and later defeated Liverpool in the Community Shield, while another trophy opportunity awaits in the 2026 Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano.
Victory in that European final would also secure qualification for the 2026-27 Europa League campaign. However, Morrison admitted that even silverware and European football may not be enough to convince Wharton to remain at Palace.
“That’s a great question. I would love him to stay for another 12 months, and I think he should stay. But then his development, he might, because he's only 22, say, ‘oh, I need to be playing Champions League football to become an England regular’. And he wants to win stuff,” Morrison said.
The former Palace forward also acknowledged that the club could be tempted into selling if the right financial package arrives.
“I kind of get, if the right offer came in, then Palace might have to say, ‘well, 60, 70 million coming for Adam Wharton, we might have to take it after we paid 18 million to Blackburn for him’. What another great bit of business they've done at the football club. That might have to happen.”
Although Morrison would prefer Wharton to remain, he admitted a summer exit appears increasingly possible.
“I would love him to stay, but it looks more than likely, probably in the summer, that he probably will move on. But as I say, if the right offer doesn't come in, you've seen it over the years with the likes of [Marc] Guehi and [Eberechi] Eze, if the offer's not right, the chairman won't do business. He'll know the price he wants for Adam Wharton and if they don't make the right offer, then he could be at Palace. But I could probably see him moving in the summer.”
Morrison has also previously explained why Palace are justified in demanding such a high fee for the midfielder.
“Yeah, £60m ($81m), £70m ($95m) - if someone wants to pay £80m ($108m), I think they’d bite your hand off. But yeah, definitely at least £60-70 million.”
He added: “If you look at how young he is and the talent he’s got, and the clubs that will be knocking on the door for him, then Palace are right to say £60-70 million. It’s good money for another player they’ve developed. He’s a top player. Hopefully he makes it to that England World Cup squad, because then his price would go up even more.”
Morrison also believes Wharton’s long-term future could eventually lie with one of Europe’s elite clubs.
“But yeah, he’s got all the attributes and there will come a time where he needs to go to one of the top four or five teams, or maybe go and play in Europe, because you need to keep improving yourself as a player.”
For now, Palace remain under no pressure to sell. Wharton is contracted until 2029, giving the club strong negotiating power if interest from Manchester United, Liverpool, or other sides intensifies during the summer market.
The Eagles are hopeful that continued success and another European campaign could persuade the midfielder to postpone any transfer decision until at least 2027. Still, with Wharton’s reputation continuing to grow, Palace know his valuation may only continue to rise before any eventual departure.
