Rene Meulensteen Says Marcus Rashford Still Has Manchester United Future Despite Barcelona Success

While playing for Barcelona, he has recorded four goals and six assists in La Liga matches, while also contributing five goals and three assists in the Champions League. Meulensteen believes these performances highlight how stepping away from the Premier League spotlight has helped rejuvenate the player.

‎In comments made to BetGoat, Sir Alex Ferguson’s former assistant stressed that academy players share a lifelong attachment to their clubs. He maintained that Rashford still carries strong loyalty to Manchester United because he developed there from a young age.

‎Meulensteen further explained that leaving United first for Aston Villa and then Barcelona was a positive move for Rashford’s growth. He compared the situation to Scott McTominay, who left Manchester United and later won the Serie A title with Napoli. According to Meulensteen, both players have performed impressively after leaving England.
