Mouzakitis has emerged as one of Europe’s brightest young prospects after an impressive breakthrough season with Olympiacos. The midfielder earned Tuttosport’s Golden Boy Web Award, outpacing talents like Arda Guler and Jobe Bellingham through over one million fan votes. Originally a goalkeeper, Mouzakitis has showcased composure, athleticism, and defensive intelligence, earning him widespread recognition across top European leagues.
His performances helped Olympiacos make history, including a UEFA Youth League title in 2024, marking the first European trophy for a Greek youth side. Alongside academy teammate Babis Kostoulas, Mouzakitis contributed significantly to this achievement. Olympiacos’ senior team later captured the Europa Conference League, further boosting international attention on the young midfielder.
Interest from top European clubs continues to grow. Manchester United scouts have monitored Mouzakitis for over a year, impressed by his consistency in Greece’s top flight. Brighton remain attentive, particularly following Kostoulas’ £30 million ($40m) transfer last summer. Real Madrid have also shown interest, with Xabi Alonso praising Mouzakitis’ maturity after observing him in a Champions League match. Arsenal are assessing the midfielder as part of their long-term midfield strategy under Mikel Arteta, focusing on versatile and press-resistant talents.
Olympiacos have yet to accept offers, demanding close to €40 million for a January move. The club values Mouzakitis as a key asset for their sporting project and is unlikely to negotiate unless bids exceed €30 million (£26m/$35m). The midfielder has made seven appearances for Greece and contributed two assists in ten league matches, also featuring five times in the Champions League this season.
Manchester United’s midfield overhaul is a driving factor behind their pursuit of Mouzakitis. With Casemiro’s contract expiring and Bruno Fernandes’ future uncertain post-2025-26, the club is evaluating options including Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte. Other potential targets include Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton. A summer 2026 transfer could provide the club with an optimal integration strategy and avoid mid-season price inflation.
Olympiacos currently hold the advantage in negotiations, but the presence of Manchester United, Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Brighton ensures that Mouzakitis remains a highly sought-after asset likely to command a record fee should a deal materialize.
