‎Manchester United Plan Contract Extension to Prevent Jadon Sancho Cut-Price Summer Exit

‎Manchester United are reportedly taking steps to ensure Jadon Sancho does not leave Old Trafford in a cut-price transfer this summer. Despite the winger enduring a challenging period away from the club, United remain focused on preserving the value of a player they signed for £73 million in 2021.

‎Contract Extension Seen as Key Strategy
‎According to Bild, United are preparing to activate an extension clause in Sancho's contract, which is due to expire this summer. The proposed move would strengthen the club's position in any future transfer negotiations and help secure a significant fee should the winger depart.
‎The strategy is aimed at preventing the England international from leaving for free or being sold at a heavily reduced price, something that would represent a substantial loss on United's original £73m investment. Although Sancho has struggled to consistently reproduce his best performances since arriving at Old Trafford, club officials reportedly view protecting his market value as an important objective.
‎An extension would also allow United to retain greater negotiating power with clubs interested in signing the attacker, particularly those hoping to secure him at a reduced cost after several inconsistent loan spells.
‎Borussia Dortmund Return Remains a Possibility
‎Reports in Germany indicate that Sancho is keen on securing a permanent move back to Borussia Dortmund. The Bundesliga club played a major role in his rise to prominence, and sporting director Lars Ricken is reportedly aware of the player's desire to return to Signal Iduna Park for a third spell.
‎However, Dortmund are said to be considering whether Sancho can recapture the world-class level he showed during his first period with the club.
‎United's valuation could also complicate any potential deal. While Sancho reportedly views a return to the Westfalenstadion as the best route to revive his career, Manchester United's determination to secure a sizeable transfer fee may prove difficult for the German side, especially given the decline in the player's market stock over the past two seasons.
‎Aston Villa Loan Spell Fails to Silence Doubts
‎Sancho's latest loan move to Aston Villa has done little to ease concerns about his form.
‎Working under Unai Emery, the winger struggled to establish himself as a regular starter, making only nine Premier League starts. His attacking contribution remained limited, with just one goal scored during a difficult spell in the Midlands.
‎Even during Villa's historic Europa League final victory over Freiburg, which delivered the club's first major trophy in 30 years, Sancho played only a minor role. He appeared from the bench and featured for the final nine minutes of the match.
‎Turkish Clubs Monitoring Situation
‎With a return to Germany far from straightforward, another option could emerge in Turkey.
‎Fenerbahce, Besiktas, and Galatasaray have all been linked with the Manchester City academy graduate as they seek to strengthen their attacking options. Reports have also suggested that Sancho has already held exploratory discussions in Istanbul regarding a possible transfer.
