Marcus Rashford Told 'Time Has Passed' at Man Utd Amid Barcelona Transfer Deadlock
Former Manchester United forward Louis Saha believes Marcus Rashford’s chapter at Old Trafford has effectively closed. The England international, currently on loan with FC Barcelona, may not return even if the Spanish side declines to finalize a £26 million ($35m) permanent deal.
Louis Saha claims Marcus Rashford has no future at Manchester United, as Barcelona delay a £26m transfer decision and the England forward eyes a new move.

Rashford’s professional rise began in 2016 when Louis van Gaal handed him a first-team debut at just 18. The forward quickly made an impression, later becoming the youngest England player to score on debut and earning selection for that summer’s European Championship.
His development at club level saw consistent improvement, culminating in a standout 2022–23 season where he scored 30 goals in all competitions. That form secured him a significant contract, but performances dipped soon after, leading to a loan move to Aston Villa and, later, a season-long switch to Spain.
While in Catalunya, Rashford has delivered 13 goals and 10 assists, keeping him in contention for England’s 2026 World Cup squad. Still, his club future remains unresolved, with Barcelona reluctant to meet the agreed fee and instead pushing for revised terms.
United’s stance has not changed, as they continue to demand the full amount. This has created uncertainty, with some suggesting a return could be possible if interim boss Michael Carrick is appointed permanently.
Saha, though, sees little chance of that outcome. He pointed to Rashford’s eagerness to leave previously, including his loan spell away from the club, as evidence that a reunion would not be straightforward. In his view, any comeback would place Rashford behind others in the squad hierarchy.
The attacker has openly expressed his enjoyment of playing in Spain and is keen to remain part of Barcelona’s setup, linking up with talents such as Lamine Yamal. He is also on track to secure major honours, having already lifted the Spanish Super Cup and closing in on a league title.
Despite that success, a different destination may ultimately await him ahead of the 2026–27 campaign. Meanwhile, Manchester United are preparing for another transfer window, with potential proceeds from Rashford’s sale—following 426 appearances for the club—set to support their efforts to rebuild and challenge for domestic honours.
