Arsenal Transfer News: Marcus Rashford Emerges as Option After Barcelona Hesitate Over Permanent Move
Arsenal are reportedly monitoring the situation of Manchester United-owned forward Marcus Rashford as uncertainty continues over his future at Barcelona.
The England international spent the season on loan in Spain and rediscovered his form under Hansi Flick, delivering 14 goals during his spell in Catalonia. However, Barcelona’s financial difficulties are threatening a permanent transfer, potentially reopening the door for a Premier League return.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Rashford’s representatives believe Arsenal could make an approach this summer if the financial conditions become favourable.
Despite Rashford enjoying life at Barcelona, the Spanish club are reluctant to activate the £26 million option to sign him permanently because of ongoing financial limitations. That hesitation has reportedly attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich.
The 28-year-old is also expected to formally end his long association with Manchester United, increasing speculation surrounding his next destination.
The growing links between Arsenal and Rashford arrive during a crucial summer for Mikel Arteta.
Following Arsenal’s painful Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, the Arsenal manager stressed the importance of bold decision-making in the transfer market.
Arteta stated: "We start to make some very important decisions if we want to reach another level. And we're going to have to show that ambition because we are more than capable of doing it, but it's going to demand to be very, very ambitious, very fast and very smart."
His comments underline Arsenal’s determination to strengthen the squad ahead of next season.
Although Barcelona are struggling financially, the club reportedly remain satisfied with Rashford’s performances and professionalism.
Sporting director Deco praised the forward for adapting quickly to Flick’s tactical setup and stepping up when required.
Speaking about the forward's contribution, Deco told BBC Sport: "Marcus has helped us a lot because he came on loan, it is not easy to come on loan as a player like him because he is a top player. He helped us a lot because he had the responsibility to replace Raphinha, it is not easy but he did very well."
However, Barcelona’s budget has become even tighter following the €80 million arrival of Anthony Gordon, leaving Rashford’s long-term future unresolved.
Rashford is only one of several players being considered by Arsenal as the club prepare for a busy transfer window.
The report claims the Gunners are also tracking Real Madrid youngster Victor Valdepenas alongside Newcastle United pair Tino Livramento and Sandro Tonali. Arsenal are additionally battling Manchester United for highly rated Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga.
With projected revenues approaching £770 million, Arsenal’s owners are expected to support Arteta in the market.
While Julian Alvarez remains the club’s leading attacking target, Rashford is viewed as an experienced and versatile option capable of adding quality and depth to Arsenal’s frontline next season.
