Real Madrid’s Next Galacticos? Klopp and Haaland Linked to Shock 2026 Vision
Real Madrid are reportedly laying the foundations for an ambitious summer 2026 overhaul, with former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland identified as potential “saviours” of the club. Plans are already being discussed at the Santiago Bernabeu as Florentino Perez looks to restore dominance both domestically and in Europe.

Los Blancos recently parted company with head coach Xabi Alonso and have continued to struggle in clashes with arch-rivals Barcelona, increasing the urgency for decisive action behind the scenes. The club hierarchy is determined to address those issues swiftly.
According to Sky Sports Deutschland, Perez is once again dreaming big. The Real Madrid president is said to be searching for figures capable of transforming the club on and off the pitch, continuing his legendary Galacticos recruitment philosophy that has defined his reign.
Two elite names are now firmly on the radar, with groundwork potentially being laid within months. Both appointments would significantly strengthen Real Madrid’s global profile and competitive edge.
With Alvaro Arbeloa currently placed in interim charge of first-team matters, Klopp is reportedly being discussed internally as a long-term managerial option. The German stepped away from Liverpool in the summer of 2024 and now serves as Red Bull’s Global Head of Soccer.
Despite repeatedly stating that he has no immediate intention of returning to management, Klopp addressed speculation following Alonso’s dismissal. Speaking to Servus TV On, he admitted receiving messages, though none were from Madrid, and expressed surprise at the timing of the decision after a cup final defeat to Barcelona.
Klopp made it clear that the situation had no influence on his own plans, noting that he responded to inquiries with emojis and remained detached from the unfolding events.
Elsewhere, former Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca and club legend Zinedine Zidane have also been linked with the vacancy. However, Zidane is believed to have a strained relationship with Perez after two Champions League-winning spells and is reportedly being lined up to take charge of France following the 2026 World Cup.
While Klopp is not currently positioned to take over at the Bernabeu, Sky suggest Real Madrid strongly appeal to the 58-year-old. He would reportedly give serious consideration to an offer if the club committed to his long-term vision and demands.
Alongside managerial ambitions, Perez is also dreaming of a blockbuster move for Haaland. An approach for the Norway international could reportedly be made as early as this summer as part of a wider €500 million strategy.
Real Madrid are said to be in regular contact with Haaland’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta. The Spanish giants previously pursued the striker when he left Borussia Dortmund in 2022, but he chose Manchester City, following in the footsteps of his father, Alf Inge Haaland.
Haaland is described as a huge admirer of Spain and views Real Madrid as the ultimate destination of his career. While he remains open to a future move, any transfer would come at an enormous cost.
Manchester City have secured their prolific No.9 on a contract running until 2034, meaning a package exceeding €500 million would likely be required. Selling Vinicius Junior, who continues to attract interest from the Saudi Pro League, could help fund the deal, though the feasibility of landing both Klopp and Haaland remains uncertain.
