‎Mbappe’s Impact on Real Madrid
‎Mbappe has been the standout performer for Real Madrid this season, scoring 25 goals across La Liga and the Champions League, along with four assists. His goal tally represents half of Madrid’s league goals and 75% of their Champions League goals, including four strikes against Olympiacos in the last European fixture. Mbappe is on track to challenge Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for most goals in a calendar year for Real Madrid.
‎Real Madrid’s Injury Woes Add Pressure on Xabi Alonso
‎Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso faces mounting pressure following a 2-0 home defeat to Celta Vigo. The loss saw Alvaro Carreras and Fran Garcia sent off, while Eder Militao sustained a muscle injury sidelining him for up to four months. Madrid currently trails Barcelona by four points in the La Liga title race and has won only two of their last seven matches across all competitions.
‎Mbappe-Haaland Clash in Doubt
‎The Champions League game was set to feature a high-profile showdown between Mbappe and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, who has scored 20 goals in 20 games this season. Last season, Mbappe scored a hat-trick in Madrid’s 3-1 second-leg win over City and also netted in the first-leg 3-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium. Haaland failed to score in his previous two visits to Madrid.
‎Real Madrid Prepares Amid Injuries
‎Midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni emphasized team unity and defensive focus ahead of the clash. “We have a lot of injured players in defence, but we have players who can perform at a high level in that position. They’re an excellent team, and we must be compact to create chances,” he said.
‎Alonso’s Future at Madrid
‎Speculation over Xabi Alonso’s future at Madrid has intensified ahead of the City match. The coach insisted he maintains a strong relationship with the squad and club hierarchy. Tchouameni confirmed that the players back Alonso and are committed to improving results on the pitch.
