‎Ruben Amorim Urges Manchester United to Sign Attack-Minded Wing Back Like Amad Diallo

‎Ruben Amorim has stressed the need for Manchester United to recruit an attack-minded wing back similar to Amad Diallo to enhance their attacking options.
‎The Red Devils suffered a disappointing 1–0 loss to 10-man Everton at Old Trafford last Monday. Everton’s Idrissa Gueye was sent off in the 13th minute, yet United failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage.
‎Ruben Amorim calls on Manchester United to strengthen wide areas, seeking an Amad Diallo-style wing back as Red Devils aim to end a three-match winless run.

‎Criticism arose over Amorim’s commitment to his preferred 3-4-2-1 system and his substitutions, including replacing Patrick Dorgu with defensive-minded Diogo Dalot before the hour mark, which did not deliver the desired impact.
‎Amorim pointed to a lack of wide-area options ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace, emphasizing the need for a player with Amad Diallo’s characteristics.
‎“We need time to improve the characteristics of the team. I’ve said that over the last year,” Amorim explained when discussing potential wingback signings in 2026. “In the last game [against Everton], we should have had an Amad with the right foot to put on the other side to play against 10 men. These characteristics will help us become a better team.”
‎United enter the clash at Selhurst Park seeking to break a three-match winless streak, which includes draws against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur, along with the defeat to Everton.
‎Amorim acknowledged the tactical strengths of Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace, noting that the Eagles currently outperform United in understanding the 3-4-2-1 system.
‎“They are a different club and they are doing things better than us. That is quite simple. We play in a different way,” Amorim said. “You don’t say that all 4-3-3 teams play in the same way. We defend in a different space, we attack in a different way. They are just doing things better than us.”
