Manchester United Plan Summer Bid for Nottingham Forest's £100m Star Elliot Anderson Amid Casemiro Decision
Manchester United are evaluating a major summer transfer for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, who carries a £100 million valuation. The club is monitoring the England international as they assess their options ahead of Casemiro’s contract expiry at the end of the season.

Anderson has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most promising midfield talents. His strong form for Nottingham Forest has earned him regular starts for England, including five of the last six internationals under Thomas Tuchel as preparations continue for next summer’s World Cup.
Manchester United are expected to refrain from making a January bid. The club does not plan to extend Casemiro’s deal or activate the one-year extension, and the midfielder is expected to explore opportunities in Saudi Arabia once his current contract ends.
The Times reports that Manchester United intend to approach Forest in the summer transfer window. The club believes Forest would be unwilling to negotiate during the ongoing Premier League campaign.
Competition for Anderson is expected to intensify. Newcastle United are considering a move to bring the 23-year-old back to St. James’ Park after selling him in 2024 for £35 million to comply with Profitability and Sustainability Regulations. Anderson has since delivered consistent performances for Forest, making 48 Premier League appearances.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe discussed the possibility of a return in a recent press conference, noting his admiration for the midfielder and reflecting on the circumstances that forced the club to approve the transfer in 2024. Howe also acknowledged that Newcastle accepted a fee they believed undervalued the player.
Liverpool are also tracking Anderson’s progress as they continue to adjust their midfield options. The club invested heavily in attacking reinforcements ahead of the season and have been regularly linked with Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.
Manchester United’s long-term rebuild features central midfield as a key priority for incoming manager Ruben Amorim. The club remains linked with Wharton and continues to monitor Brighton’s Carlos Baleba after failing to meet the Seagulls’ £100 million valuation during the previous transfer window. Casemiro’s departure is expected to create a midfield vacancy, and another young signing could position Bruno Fernandes for a more advanced role. Kobbie Mainoo’s limited minutes this season further highlight United’s need for additional midfield depth, making the pursuit of Anderson a central part of their strategic planning.
