‎Rashford reached Catalonia seeking a fresh start after difficult spells at Manchester United, followed by renewed promise during a loan run with Aston Villa. The forward left Old Trafford after failing to receive a reset under the new regime in the summer of 2025, choosing a bold move to join a Barcelona side featuring Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Pedri.
‎Strong contributions in front of goal have set the tone for his return to form. Rashford has recorded six goals and eight assists across 16 appearances, with Barcelona expected to activate the purchase option in his loan deal. Yorke believes that a permanent switch would allow Rashford to push his level even further with the La Liga contenders.
‎Yorke shared that Barcelona have yet to trigger the £35 million clause but expressed surprise given Rashford’s impact. He noted that the winger’s struggles at United stemmed largely from dissatisfaction, suggesting that the change of environment has reignited his confidence. Yorke emphasized Rashford’s long-standing talent and pointed to his improved form in Spain as proof of what a stable setting can unlock.
‎The former United striker mentioned the legacy of Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho, Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Romario, saying that Rashford has the opportunity to build his own chapter within that lineage. According to Yorke, Yamal remains in a developmental phase, giving Rashford an opening to position himself as Barcelona’s leading force at a time when he is at his peak.
‎Yorke also touched on Manchester United’s transfer decisions, suggesting that selling Rashford may prompt future regret. He referenced other departures thriving abroad, including Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, and Scott McTominay, who has since lifted a Serie A title with Napoli. Yorke stated that bringing McTominay back would likely require a major fee and might not fully address United’s midfield needs.
