‎'Man Utd Is a Virus': Fans React as Rasmus Hojlund Turns Into 'Prime Ronaldo' With Another Goal for Denmark

‎Rasmus Hojlund’s resurgence reached new heights as the Danish striker found the net once again during Denmark’s World Cup qualifier against Greece. His impressive form for both club and country has sparked widespread fan reaction online, with many mocking Manchester United and labeling the club a “virus” after his continued success away from Old Trafford.

‎The 22-year-old forward has been in outstanding form since leaving Manchester United for Napoli on loan in September. His move to the Serie A champions, which could become permanent if Napoli qualify for next season’s Champions League, has revived his career after a difficult spell in England.
‎Hojlund struggled to make a consistent impact at Old Trafford following his transfer from Atalanta in 2023, scoring 14 goals across 62 Premier League matches. Despite expressing his desire to stay and prove himself under manager Ruben Amorim, the striker opted for a new challenge on deadline day — a decision that has already paid off.
‎Since joining Napoli, Hojlund has struck four times in six appearances across all competitions and has carried his clinical finishing into international duty. His goal against Greece marked his fourth in as many World Cup-qualifying matches, underlining his growing confidence and consistency in front of goal.
‎Fans took to social media to react to his latest strike, with many using humor and frustration to express their views on Manchester United’s handling of players. One user wrote on X, “At this point it is safe to say Manchester United is a virus that destroys everything it touches,” echoing the sentiment of several supporters who believe players often perform better after leaving the club.
‎Others compared Hojlund to Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazário, sharing edited images of the Dane’s face on R9’s iconic physique. “Hojlund is turning into prime R9,” one fan posted, while another added, “Rasmus Hojlund since leaving Man Utd,” alongside a photoshopped image celebrating his transformation.
‎Not all reactions were critical, however. Some United fans expressed optimism over Hojlund’s success, highlighting the potential financial benefit of his loan deal. One supporter commented, “Rasmus Hojlund with another goal for Denmark. That’s 7 goal contributions in his last 4 games for club and country. Excited for him. We’re surely getting that €50m bag from Napoli.”
‎Denmark coach Brian Riemer also praised the forward’s form, suggesting that the environment around him has been key to unlocking his potential. “He is now on a well-functioning team with players who take pride in helping each other,” Riemer said. “That’s more important than which league you play in.”
‎Speaking after Denmark’s recent victories, Hojlund attributed his improvement to hard work and fitness. “I’ve played a lot and it’s been going really well,” he said. “I made sure I was ready and did a lot off the pitch during the summer to prepare for this season. It’s great to be in such a period because scoring goals is my job.”
‎Hojlund will now return to club action as Napoli prepare to face Torino on October 18. Under Antonio Conte, the reigning Serie A champions sit top of the league after winning five of their first six matches, with Hojlund’s sharp finishing emerging as a key factor in their strong start.
