‎Ange Postecoglou Sacked by Nottingham Forest After Just 39 Days in Charge

‎Ange Postecoglou’s brief spell as Nottingham Forest manager has ended after only eight games and 39 days, setting a new record for the shortest managerial tenure in Premier League history. The club confirmed his dismissal minutes after a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.

‎The former Tottenham Hotspur manager succeeded Nuno Espirito Santo just three games into the new season but failed to win any of his matches in charge. Forest’s poor start leaves them 17th in the Premier League table and searching for their third manager of the season.
‎Forest released a 39-word statement announcing Postecoglou’s departure:
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”
‎During his pre-match press conference on Friday, Postecoglou had voiced optimism about the club’s future, insisting that “the story always ends the same… me with a trophy.” However, his hopes were cut short following another heavy defeat at the City Ground.
‎Forest showed early promise against Chelsea but squandered several opportunities before being punished after the break. Josh Acheampong and Pedro Neto struck in quick succession to give the visitors a two-goal lead, before Reece James sealed the result late on.
‎The home supporters voiced their frustration as Forest fans began leaving the stadium before full-time, with away fans taunting Postecoglou with chants of “sacked in the morning.” Following the final whistle, the 60-year-old applauded the remaining supporters before being dismissed less than 20 minutes later.
‎Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca expressed sympathy after the match, stating to TNT Sports, “It’s always a shame. Unfortunately, it’s a business where you need to win games.”
‎Postecoglou’s departure marks his second sacking in four months. He previously lost his position at Tottenham despite guiding the club to Europa League success, ending their 17-year trophy drought.
‎Forest had parted ways with Nuno earlier this season after internal tensions with owner Evangelos Marinakis. Postecoglou was appointed on a two-year contract and introduced an attacking style of play but struggled to secure results. His tenure yielded just one point in five Premier League matches, with Forest’s only goal coming in a 1-1 draw at Burnley.
‎Former Burnley and Everton manager Sean Dyche has been linked as a possible successor as Forest attempt to stabilize their season following a turbulent managerial run.
