Real Reason Manchester United Could Walk Away From Elliot Anderson Transfer Revealed

The pursuit of Elliot Anderson by Manchester United appears to be nearing its end following a £120 million valuation set by Nottingham Forest. Faced with the prospect of competing against Manchester City, United are opting against entering a high-cost bidding contest.

Although Anderson was identified as a leading option to strengthen the midfield, the financial gap between both clubs has proven decisive. According to ESPN, United view the quoted fee as significantly above market value. Even with available resources, the club’s hierarchy is cautious about engaging in a spending battle that could inflate the price further.

The current transfer plan at Old Trafford centres on sustainability. United intend to generate between £80 million and £90 million through player exits, using those funds to secure a key midfield addition. This method is designed to keep the remainder of the budget available for multiple reinforcements across different areas of the squad, including attack and defence.

Forest’s position is shaped by precedent, referencing the £115 million transfer of Moises Caicedo to Chelsea. With Anderson tied to a long-term contract until 2029 and expected to feature prominently for England in the World Cup, the club sees little reason to lower its demands.

Attention now turns to European competition, where Anderson is set to play a role in Forest’s Europa League semi-final clash with Aston Villa. His performance could heighten interest from City, while United evaluate alternative midfield targets, including Carlos Baleba, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Sandro Tonali.
