‎Barcelona Plan Permanent Marcus Rashford Deal After Standout Start in Spain

Barcelona have resolved to pursue a permanent transfer for Marcus Rashford once the season concludes, following the England forward’s encouraging start in Spain. Rashford joined the reigning La Liga champions on loan during the summer after falling out of favour at Manchester United under then-head coach Ruben Amorim.
‎Barcelona have made a clear decision on Marcus Rashford’s future following his strong loan spell from Manchester United, with a permanent transfer now firmly on the agenda.

‎Amorim’s recent departure from Old Trafford initially raised speculation that Rashford could be reintegrated into United’s plans. His exit, which came just 14 months after taking charge, has opened doors for several sidelined players, including Kobbie Mainoo. Rashford was also thought to be among those who could benefit from a fresh managerial reset at the Premier League club.
‎Despite those developments, Barcelona have remained committed to keeping Rashford beyond his loan deal. The 28-year-old has made a strong impression, registering two goals and six assists as the Catalan side aim to defend their domestic crown.
‎Barcelona currently lead La Liga, holding a four-point advantage over rivals Real Madrid. Attention now turns to the Supercopa de Espana, where the two giants will meet on Sunday. Both clubs advanced comfortably from their semi-final fixtures, with Barcelona overcoming Athletic Club and Madrid defeating Atletico Madrid.
‎The loan agreement includes a €30 million purchase option, which Barcelona paid €5 million to secure. That clause is now expected to be activated, a move that has received backing from supporters. A club vote last month showed 54.6 percent of members in favour of completing the permanent signing.
‎Rashford has openly expressed his desire to remain in Catalonia, speaking positively about both the club and the city. In an interview with SPORT, he stated that staying at Barcelona is his ultimate ambition, though his primary motivation remains winning trophies with a club built for success.
‎The forward has also spoken warmly about his integration into life in Spain, explaining that he felt welcomed from the moment he arrived. His focus, he insists, is on helping the team continue its recent success and repeat last season’s achievements.
‎Rashford has embraced the expectations that come with representing one of football’s most iconic institutions. He described the pressure at Barcelona as positive and motivating, noting that he thrives in environments where standards are at their highest.
‎Head coach Hansi Flick has praised Rashford’s professionalism and mentality, highlighting a moment where the player accepted a non-starting role without complaint, prioritising team success above individual concerns.
‎Barcelona will not feature in La Liga fixtures this weekend as preparations intensify for the Supercopa showdown against Real Madrid. Last season’s final ended in emphatic fashion, with Barcelona claiming a 5–2 victory in Saudi Arabia to secure their 15th Spanish Super Cup, courtesy of goals from Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Alejandro Balde.
