‎Nicky Butt Urges Man Utd to Target Osimhen, Says Sesko Transfer Hasn’t Fully Delivered

‎Former Manchester United midfielder Nicky Butt has encouraged the club’s leadership to move for Victor Osimhen in the upcoming transfer window, identifying the Galatasaray forward as a key solution for the squad.
‎The ex-United star believes the Nigerian striker offers qualities that could significantly strengthen the team, especially as the club prepares for a busy summer of recruitment. In his view, Osimhen stands out as a realistic and valuable target compared to other high-priced options in the market.

‎Speaking about the situation, Butt explained that clubs must not only chase elite talent but also focus on players who are attainable. He suggested that footballers currently playing in Turkey could be within reach, making Osimhen a practical option.
‎As Manchester United push toward securing a spot in the UEFA Champions League, plans are reportedly underway for multiple signings. Butt is convinced that Osimhen should be prioritized due to his all-around ability, including pace, strength, aerial presence, and versatility in front of goal.
‎He stressed that spending excessive time pursuing players with extremely high price tags can be counterproductive, especially if those deals are unlikely to materialize. Instead, he highlighted Osimhen’s physicality, movement, and finishing as qualities that make him a complete forward.
‎Meanwhile, doubts remain over Benjamin Sesko, who joined from RB Leipzig last summer. Although the young striker has shown glimpses of promise and improved form in recent weeks, Butt believes the club may be repeating a familiar pattern by relying on developing talents rather than proven performers.
‎He pointed out that recruiting young, inexperienced forwards often places too much responsibility on them too soon. According to Butt, while Sesko has scored goals and shown progress, he has yet to fully justify expectations or establish himself as a leading figure in the squad.
‎Drawing comparisons with Rasmus Hojlund, Butt warned that similar recruitment strategies have not always delivered immediate success. He suggested that while Sesko could develop into a top player in the future, he may not yet be ready to lead the line, particularly in Europe’s biggest competitions.
‎So far, Sesko has recorded nine goals in 26 Premier League appearances but has struggled to secure a consistent starting role under manager Michael Carrick. With an upcoming fixture against Leeds United after the international break, he will have another opportunity to prove his value.
‎However, if he fails to silence critics before the end of the season, Manchester United could look toward Osimhen or another established striker to take charge of the attack next term.
